Republican Paul Abbott Jr. has won the special election for Spartanburg County Council District Three. The results came late Tuesday evening.
Over 7,000 people came out to vote for the county council race. Abbott won over his Democrat opponent Kathryn Harvey, taking 55.85% of the vote.

Abbott became the Republican nominee after winning a runoff primary against Jason Lynch in August. The runoff was a result of neither Abbott nor Lynch winning 50% of the vote in the original primary.
