A 19-year-old Spartanburg County man has been charged with lottery fraud following an investigation by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED).
Joseph Antoniyo Waller was charged Thursday, October 8, with intent to defraud by counterfeiting lottery game tickets.
According to an arrest warrant, Waller allegedly obtained and passed South Carolina Education Lottery scratch-off tickets without paying for them while working at a Circle K convenience store. The alleged incident occurred September 29 at the Circle K located at 2195 E. Main St. in Duncan.
Investigators allege Waller scanned, scratched or redeemed the lottery tickets without providing payment. The warrant states that store management identified the activity through surveillance footage.
The South Carolina Education Lottery requested the investigation by SLED.
Waller was booked into the Spartanburg County Detention Center. The case will be prosecuted by the 7th Circuit Solicitor's Office.
