Spartanburg Community College (SCC) welcomed Girls on the Run 5K to its Spartanburg (Giles) Campus this past weekend, hosting the organization’s event on campus for the first time.

Girls on the Run is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to encouraging young girls to build their confidence and develop lifelong skills. SCC officials say the college was honored to serve as the host site and support an event that aligns with its commitment to community engagement and student success.

“Hosting Girls on the Run on our campus was a wonderful opportunity for Spartanburg Community College to support a program that inspires confidence, character and perseverance in young girls,” Dr. Michael Mikota, president of SCC said. “Events like this create meaningful experiences that encourage participants to believe in themselves, support one another and recognize their potential. We appreciate everyone who helped make the event such a positive and memorable experience for the participants and their families.”
