A new manufacturing facility is expected to open in Greer later this year.
United Composite Materials, LLC, will operate a 70,000-square-foot manufacturing facility producing composite materials for the North American market. The facility, created through a collaboration between Engineered Textile Solutions & Associates LLC and Hankuk Carbon, is expected to be operational by November 2026.
“The ETS team has more than 50 years of combined experience in running prepreg production operations, and we have a strong partner with global expertise operating facilities in Korea, China, Vietnam, and now the U.S.,” said UCM’s President Steve Garrette. “Our new location creates a global supply chain partner who can deliver for our customers with greater flexibility, faster response times and lower cost.”
Company officials say the plant will produce both unidirectional (UD) prepregs, as well as woven fabric (CF) prepreg materials, focusing mainly on carbon fiber and epoxy resin materials. There are also expansion plans already underway for the facility, to include additional advanced material production capabilities. The total investment is expected to be more than $20 million.
“The location is strategically located close to raw material sources and composite material users building advanced material structures for our target markets- sports and leisure markets, aerospace, marine, defense, space structures and automotive markets,” Garrette said.
The new facility will be located at 1446 S Buncombe Rd. in Greer, taking over the former Haydale Technologies factory. It is projected to employ about 50 people. For more information, contact info@ucmmfg.co.
