Marvin Glenn Satterfield, 82, passed away surrounded by his family on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Doctors Hospital of Augusta, Georgia.
Born in Pelham, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Gordon and Mae Savage Satterfield. Marvin was the owner of Satterfield Mechanical for more than 40 years, Satterfield Lumber Co., and Fosters Lake. He was a hardworking man who enjoyed his work, had his Masters Mechanical License and was a contractor. After his retirement, he spent years enjoying taking care of all his animals at his home and on his farm of over 50 years on Circle Road, which he built himself.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Dale Pruitt Satterfield, and his beloved dog, CiCi of the home; children, Laurenda Satterfield Norris of Greer, South Carolina, Melissa Satterfield Carroll (Robbie) of Greer, South Carolina, and Chad Glenn Satterfield (Marty) of Greer, South Carolina; grandchildren, Rena Norris Merritt (Nathan), Crystal Carroll Hopper (T.J.), Bryan Robert Carroll (Nikki), Bruce Dale Norris, Jr. (Alyssa), Noah Glenn Satterfield, and Thomas Cole Satterfield (Caroline); great-grandchildren, Maggie and Charlotte Merritt, Ayda Lynn Hopper, Sawyer and Cohen Carroll, Bruce Dale Norris, III “Tripp”, and Cash Satterfield; sisters, Katherine Satterfield Pierce (Al) and Shirley Satterfield Kelley (Bill); brother, Roy Walden (Laura); and many beloved cousins and family.
He is predeceased by a son, Kenneth Blaine Satterfield; sisters, Gussie Satterfield Walden and Euline Satterfield Henson (CB); brothers, Cohen Satterfield (Ethel), Charles Byrd Satterfield (Totsie) and Charles Walden (Sherry); and beloved son-in-law who he loved like his own, Bruce Dale Norris, Sr.
Visitation will be held from noon to 1:45 p.m. Aug. 5 at The Wood Mortuary.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Aug. 5 at The Wood Mortuary Chapel, conducted by Rev. Jerry Mullinax and Pastor Rose Cox. Live-streaming of the funeral service will be available at www.thewoodmortuary.com. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Bryan Carroll, Bruce Dale Norris, Jr., Noah Satterfield, Thomas Satterfield, Nathan Merritt, T.J. Hopper, and A.J. Pearson. Honorary pallbearer will be Chris Moore.
The family will be at the home of his grandson, Bruce Dale Norris, Jr., 801 Circle Road, Greer, South Carolina.
