Norman Blakley West, 79, passed away September 28, 2026.
A native of Greenville County, son of the late Norman William and Alma Finley West. Norman was a United States Navy Veteran, retired contractor, attended Gardner Webb College, a former member of Greer Lions Club, American Legion, Board of Greer Soup Kitchen and Greer Heritage Museum.
Surviving are his wife, Betty Waddell West of the home; a son, Norman “Blakley” West II of Myrtle Beach; and a sister, Frances “Sandy” Dempsey of Greer.
Additional survivors include a brother-in-law, Ben Waddell (Beth) of Spartanburg and a niece Lori Fleck (Jason) of Simpsonville. Norman was a proud “Poppy” to his great niece Ally Spradlin and great nephew Bowen Fleck of Simpsonville.
Mr. West was predeceased by two brothers, Tim West and Richard West and two sisters, Diane Rogers and Shirley Crocker.
A memorials service will be held at 2 p.m. Oct. 23 at Memorial United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Joe Cate and Rev. David Smith.
Visitation will be held in the social hall of the church after the service.
