Philip Wayne “Phil” Williams passed away October 9, 2026, at the age of 86. Born in Spartanburg County, he was the son of the late Fred Dean and Mattie (Pat) Collins Williams.
Phil graduated from James F. Byrnes High School and Spartanburg Junior College before joining the Army Reserves. He learned to fly at the age of 16 and enjoyed a career as a corporate pilot with Charter Communications and Flour Daniel before his retirement.
Phil had a quick wit and a knack for making everyone laugh. He loved spending time with his family, reading, football, racing and riding his Harley.
Surviving are a son, Rhett Williams of Mauldin and a granddaughter Carson Williams of Greenville. He is also survived by his former wife and caregiver, Barbara DeYoung Williams.
In accordance with Phil’s wishes, there will be a private memorial service at a later date.
