Richard Charles Ziegler Sr. passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 27, 2026. He was the son of the late Charles and Gertrude Lyons Ziegler and the loving husband of the late Barbara Joan Mason Ziegler.
Richard proudly served his country in the United States Naval Reserve. Following his military service, he began his career as a computer operator. Later, he joined the City of Sunrise, where he worked as a utility operator. He was known for his strong work ethic, reliability and willingness to help others. Richard will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his country and his community. His kindness, quiet strength and steady presence touched the lives of those who knew him. He leaves behind cherished memories that will continue to bring comfort to his loved ones.
He is survived by his children, Richard Ziegler (Kimberly), Randall Ziegler, and Cheryl Neff (Norman); grandchildren, Heather Loveday (Rick), Bradley Neff (Triona), James Neff (Emily), Megan Ziegler, Riley Ziegler (Alec Via); as well as 5 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his son-in-law, Gene Ziegler.
Light refreshments will be served from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. July 18 at Living Waters Funeral Home & Crematory. A memorial mass will begin at 2 p.m.
