K9 Hyco, a nine-year veteran of the Greenville County Sheriff's Office, passed away on December 8, surrounded by his family. Hyco began his service as a patrol dog but was transferred to the newly formed Criminal Interdiction Unit due to his exceptional ability to locate illegal narcotics. During his time on Interstate 85, Hyco was responsible for the arrest of several hundred criminals and the seizure of a large amount of illegal drugs, firearms, and untaxed cigarettes, as well as locating over $1.1 million of illicit US currency tied to criminal organizations.
