The Greer Heritage Museum is hosting a four-part series called "Stories of Greer" throughout the year to celebrate the city's sesquicentennial. The first event, "The Founding of Greer," will be held at the Historic Greer Depot, which was chosen for its relevance to the town's founding. The events will consist of interviews, video and music components and will be family-friendly. Tickets are free but required for all events for seating purposes.
The Greer Heritage Museum has completed its renovation and unveiled its new look with a ribbon-cutting and open house event. The museum has not only changed its exhibits but also how it tells Greer's story, according to Museum Director David Lovegrove. The event also marked the kick-off of Greer's 150th anniversary, with a new Greer 150 store and information about the sesquicentennial posted throughout the space. The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, 12-4 p.m. on Sunday, and closed on Monday.
The Greer Heritage Museum will be hosting ghost tours throughout the weekends in October, beginning Oct. 10. There are two tours to choose from, one on Trade Street and one at the Greer City Cemetery. Visit the museum’s website to learn more about ticket information.
The Greer Heritage Museum announced a new way to support the museum’s archival efforts — the Greer Historical Society. The announcement came at the conclusion of Museum Week. Members monetarily support the museum in exchange for exclusive perks.
