Two women and one child were found dead in a house fire in Greer, South Carolina. The victims have been identified as Julianne Marie Burgess, 57, Laura Ellen Brysacz, 70, and Piper Rubi McCullough, 3. The cause of death has been ruled as inhalation of products of combustion and thermal burns. The manner of death remains pending as the Coroner's Office continues to work with fire investigators and law enforcement agencies to determine the cause and origin of the fire.
The Greer Police Department has ruled the Jan. 3 Trade Street shooting as self-defense, with no criminal charges being pursued. Jonathan Kraemer was found deceased at the scene after Maven Martin discharged a firearm, striking Kraemer. The investigation indicates that Kraemer became involved in a verbal argument and displayed a knife in a threatening manner. John Rowell sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and was issued municipal citations for Interfering with Police and Disorderly Conduct. The Greer Police Department will continue to follow up on all leads and additional information related to this incident.
Jovan Thaire Marston, a 21-year-old man, was arrested by the Greenville County Sheriff's Office Major Crimes unit in connection with a shooting that occurred at 144 Creekland Way in Taylors on Saturday night. The victim, a juvenile male, suffered at least one gunshot wound and was transported to the hospital. Marston was charged with Assault & Battery High and Aggravated, and Possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and is currently being held at the Greenville County Detention Center.
