Former State Senator Lee Bright is set to win the Republican primary election for State Senate District 12, having received 50.9% of the vote. If the results remain certified, he will run unopposed on the Dec. 23 ballot. Bright previously held the seat from 2009 to 2017 and is the lead sponsor of the Constitutional Carry bill and the Firearms Freedom Act. The special election follows the resignation of Senator Roger Nutt, who resigned due to a diagnosis of Alzheimer's Disease.

No winner was announced for the South Carolina House District 21 Special Primary, according to unofficial results from the South Carolina Election Commission. A runoff election between Dianne Mitchell and Steve Nail will be held on Nov. 4, with early voting from Oct. 29-31. The winner of the primary runoff will run unopposed on the Dec. 23 ballot.

Reggy Baston, a Greenville Republican, has officially filed for the South Carolina House District 21 seat, which was recently vacated by Rep. Bobby Cox. The special election will occur on Dec. 23, with party primaries on Oct. 21, if necessary.
