Joined by his wife and daughter, Reggy Batson, a Greenville Republican, officially filed today to run for South Carolina State House District 21.
According to his statement regarding his campaign, Batson is a lifelong resident of Greenville, a husband, father and firefighter. Batson says his campaign will focus on bringing “common-sense leadership” to Columbia, “putting families first, and ensuring Greenville continues to be a great place to live, work, and raise a family.”
“I’ve dedicated my life to answering the call when my neighbors need help,” said Batson in the statement. “Now I’m ready to take that same commitment of service to the State House. Greenville deserves a strong, steady voice that will fight for safer communities, stronger schools and opportunities that keep our young people here at home.”
Party primaries for the State House race, if necessary, will be Oct. 21. The special election will occur on Dec. 23. See GreerNews’ coverage for more information regarding the race.
