The Surgery Center at Pelham (SCP) in South Carolina has become the first ambulatory surgery center in the world to offer Stryker's innovative Mako Robotic Power System (RPS) for total knee arthroplasty (TKA) procedures. Dr. Frank Armocida, a board-certified orthopedic surgeon, is the first physician in the state to perform TKA procedures using the Mako RPS. The system utilizes image-free intraoperative planning and a robotically enabled saw with active adjustment technology, delivering a familiar cutting experience without the use of cutting blocks. The Mako RPS has demonstrated less than 2° limb alignment error and cut errors under 1 mm and 1°.
