Freshman of the Year: Jelise Sanders, Riverside
Sanders was a standout middle blocker for the Lady Warriors as a freshman. She finished the year with 148 kills, a .254 hitting percentage (highest on the team), 72 total blocks, and played in all 29 of Riverside’s matches.
Coach of the Year: Melissa Godwin, Greer
After Greer finished 4-21 in 2024, Godwin — in her first year — helped guide the Lady Jackets to one of their best season in program history. Greer finished 21-9 on the year, winning its first playoff game since 2019 and setting the mark for most wins in a season in over 20 years.
Co-Players of the Year: Damiah Polk, Greer/Nevaeh Hays, Riverside
Both Polk and Hays had unforgettable senior seasons with their respective programs, solidifying themselves as two of the top 2026s in the state.
Polk finished with 319 total kills on the year for the Lady Jackets, 226 digs, 37 blocks, 41 aces, and a .281 hitting percentage.
Hays led all of Class 5-A and was second in the state with 115 total blocks. The senior middle blocker/rightside hitter finished with 159 kills and a .242 hitting percentage.Â
