After having its appeal to move from Class 3-A to 2-A denied earlier in the week, Greer Middle College will be a 2-A school after all.
GMC athletic officials met again with the SCHSL on Friday morning, this time appealing for a move down in front of a five-person appellate panel.
Greer Middle College won its appeal by a 4-1 vote and will be a Class 2-A school for the 2026-28 realignment cycle.
Regions are yet to be determined in any class, but the last time GMC played in Class 2-A was from 2022-24. During that cycle, GMC was grouped in a region with Landrum, Chesnee, Liberty, Greenville Technical Charter, and Blacksburg High School. Each of those schools — with the exception of Blacksburg (1-A) —will also be in Class 2-A for the 2026-28 cycle.
GMC competes in every major sport with the exception of football. Regions will be finalized by the SCHSL on Friday, Jan. 23.
