BYRNES LACROSSE HIRES BRASWELL AS NEW HEAD COACH
Byrnes lacrosse announced this week that Jackson Braswell has been hired as the new boys lacrosse head coach.
Braswell played for Limestone University and Catawba College, earning several honors before being named head coach at Hillcrest last year.
"Stepping into the role of head lacrosse coach at James F. Byrnes High School is an opportunity to build something lasting — a culture of toughness, discipline, and pride that reflects this school and community," said Braswell. "My goal is to help our student-athletes grow not only as players, but as leaders and teammates who represent Byrnes the right way every time they step on the field.”
HOOVER, RUGGIERO SHINE ON SIZZLIN' SUMMER SHOOTOUT SATURDAY
Blue Ridge and Eastside basketball took the floor at Greenville High School on June 20 for the Sizzlin' Summer Shooutout.
With summer basketball live period winding down, both the Tigers and Eagles put on solid showings.
Blue Ridge basketball fell narrowly to River Bluff, but rising senior 2027 Chase Hoover put on a show. Hoover had 23 points, was on fire from three-point range, and created his own shots at every level.
Eastside basketball earned a comfortable win over Westside, and rising junior Roman Ruggiero was a huge reason for that. Ruggiero had 17 of his 21 points in the first half. He showcased his ability to be a multi-dimensional scorer, knocking down several threes and also connecting on floaters and layups off the dribble.
