Residents across Spartanburg District Five will soon find the artwork of Nolan Copeland in their mailboxes.

District Five has announced Copeland, a Tyger River Elementary student, as the winner of its 2025 Holiday Card contest. Copeland, along with his art teacher Nancy Mabry, was honored by the District’s Board of Trustees at its late November meeting.

The holiday card competition is an annual tradition in District Five that encourages young artists to create their most magical of festive holiday card designs. Art teachers from each of the district’s eight elementary schools solicit entries from students at all grade levels and then select the top entries to send to the district for evaluation.

Along with a certificate and recognition by the Board of Trustees, Copeland will receive 50 copies of his card to send to his friends and family this holiday season. A framed copy of his card will also be given to Tyger River Elementary School to display throughout the year.
