Greenville County Schools (GCS) celebrated the Superintendent’s Academic Achievement Awards at the December principal’s meeting.
Schools were recognized for success across various metrics, including graduation rate, college and career readiness, work-based learning, industry certifications and career and technical education (CTE). Awards were also given to schools that show emphasis on the growth and performance of multilingual learners and students with disabilities.
Officials with the school system say that the achievements align with the District’s Graduation Plus initiative, which focuses on ensuring students graduate with a high school diploma, plus college credit and/or industry certifications.
Greenville County Schools Superintendent Burke Royster awarded the following:
South Carolina Blue Ribbon School — Tigerville Elementary
Secondary Principal of the Year – Ashley Wardlaw, principal of Blue Ridge High School
Highest increase in percentage of multilingual learners – Sue Cleveland Elementary, Blue Ridge Middle and Travelers Rest High
Growth in graduation rates – Blue Ridge High, Eastside High, Greenville Senior High Academy, Greer High, Hillcrest High, J.L. Mann High Academy, Mauldin High, Riverside High, Southside High, Wade Hampton High and Woodmont High
Highest percentage of graduating class with dual enrollment – Riverside High
Highest percentage of graduating class who met the AP indicator –Mauldin High
Highest percentage of the graduating class who successfully completed a work-based learning experience – Greer High
Highest percentage of graduating class who successfully completed a CTE pathway – Woodmont High
Highest total number of certifications – Golden Strip Career Center and Riverside High
Highest percentage of students with disabilities cohort meeting college and career-ready standards – Eastside High
