The project area for the McElrath Road Improvement Project.

The Greer City Council met for a regular meeting on Tuesday, June 23, awarding a $597,000 paving project on McElrath Road.

The McElrath Road Improvement Project will widen the road to 24 feet from Maple Drive to Old Woodruff Road. Currently, the road is around 16 feet wide and in need of improvements to the pavement.

Council voted unanimously to award the project to Civil Pros Inc., which offered the lowest bid. Officials note that the City will only be responsible for around $367,000 of the project cost. The remaining cost will be paid for by the two apartment developers on McElrath Road.

Council also unanimously approved the first and final reading of Resolution 15-2026. This approves the continuation of a cooperative agreement between Greenville County and the municipality of Greer that allows the city to receive federal HUD funding.

The final action item before Council was Resolution 16-2026, approving a lease purchase agreement worth $3.2 million. This is to purchase capital equipment for the city — the price point was approved as a part of the fiscal year 2026-27 budgeting process. Council approved the resolution unanimously.
