Greer’s Sports and Events Center has begun taking shape on Highway 14 with crews installing large concrete panels that will form the building’s exterior walls.
According to the City, construction crews began erecting the precast concrete panels on Jan. 19, and nearly 100 panels have been set so far. This phase of construction is 37% complete and is scheduled for completion on March 4.
January was a productive month for the team in many ways. In addition to starting the panel erection, crews completed all the building foundations and finished installing the electrical conduits that will carry power to the building from the site’s transformer.
The rest of the month will continue to be focused on installing concrete panels and assembling the building’s steel frame. Steel erection began on Feb. 5 and follows behind panel installation as crews move around the building.
The City broke ground on the project in August, and the building is expected to be completed by 2027. For project updates, visit the City of Greer’s ForGreer webpage.
