Pamela Evette speaks to the crowd.

South Carolina Lieutenant Governor Pamela Evette came to speak to the Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce last Friday.

The talk was a part of the Chamber’s First Friday Lunch series, a luncheon for business owners in the area to network and hear from speakers. Evette, a native of nearby town Travelers Rest, spoke to the crowd about her connection to the area and the policy issues that matter to her the most.

Evette, a former business owner, started her speech by emphasizing her connection to the issues that matter to the small-town businessman. She had started a payroll HR company, Quality Business Solutions, Inc., which she eventually sold. According to Evette, when she sold her company, their revenue was at $1.5 billion.

“I came out of the business community, so I'm one of y'all, right?” Evette said. “I’ve sat in your shoes, [wondering] why the government never brought us to the table, and kind of questioned them for a long time.”

She continued: “And it was because of that business background that I decided, someday, I wanted to go into politics.”

Evette became South Carolina’s first female, Republican lieutenant governor when she was elected in 2018. Currently, she is a candidate for the 2026 South Carolina gubernatorial election.

Evette also mentioned some of her political endeavors since being elected, specifically noting her work in areas of tort reform, educator salaries, mental health resources in schools and school cell phone policies. She also mentioned her work in energy maintenance, and spoke to the importance of the state’s technical and trade schools.

“Thank you all so much for giving me the opportunity to serve you,” Evette said. “We are proud of all the things that have been accomplished.”

Last Friday’s luncheon also included the announcement of the Leadership Greer Class 46. Leadership Greer is a nine-month program that brings together Greer community leaders to learn more about the city and engage in professional development.
