The Spartanburg Philharmonic announced that it is the recipient of an FY 2026 Grants for Arts Projects award of $35,000 from the National Endowment for the Arts.
This funding will support the performances and public speaking engagements of violinist Vijay Gupta to elevate the issue of homelessness and celebrate America’s history. The Spartanburg Philharmonic’s theme of “Festival of American Voices” spans the 2026 calendar year, celebrating diverse American experiences through concerts and community programming across all ensembles.
The celebration ends with a full orchestra concert featuring Gupta as a soloist. “American Dreams” explores themes of America as a place of refuge, alongside continued community engagement through educational programs and partnerships.
“I’ve known Vijay for a long time,” Maestro John Young Shik Concklin said. “We’re excited to both hear his music and his insights for our community.”
