Duncan residents can get some spring cleaning done by selling their unwanted items at the Mayor’s Yard Sale on May 9.
The Town of Duncan is hosting the community yard sale on Mother’s Day weekend at the Duncan Event Center (121 S Spencer St, Duncan). The event will take place on Saturday, May 9, from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Town Mayor Shirley Clopton says she started the annual event in response to community feedback. Her favorite part of hosting the yard sales is interacting with community members, and she encourages residents to attend, even if they just want to stop by and chat.
“Attendees can expect to have a lot of fun and hopefully make some money,” Clopton said. “We have the perfect event center off the main road, which accommodates a good number of people. You get to meet people and buy from each other if you want to. It’s fun and laid back.”
Residents interested in selling at the event can email sclopton@duncansc.gov to reserve a spot. Sign-ups will be accepted until the morning of the event, and Clopton says there is plenty of room for those who are interested.
Interested residents are encouraged to bring their own tables if needed. No alcohol or illicit material is allowed to be sold. The event will be held outside of the event center, weather permitting.
