Preston Young, 36, of Greer, was arrested on Sept. 9, following an investigation by the Spartanburg County Narcotics Unit.

The Narcotics Unit began its investigation in May of this year. According to the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Department, they became aware of activity involving Young through other narcotic investigations. During the investigation, Spartanburg County reached out to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Greer City DEU and Spartanburg City DEA TFO for assistance. This was due to the investigation extending into Greer, as well as Georgia and North Carolina.

Through investigative techniques, the Sheriff’s Department obtained and executed a search warrant on Sept. 9 at 2165 Fort Prince Blvd. 2A in Wellford, S.C.. According to the department’s report, this is the residence of Branna Moore and the hub for Preston Young’s drug distribution.

During the search of the residence, officers seized nearly five pounds of meth, two pounds of marijuana, just under two pounds of fentanyl, 106 grams of cocaine, and 152 grams of MDMA. Two handguns, two vehicles and assorted jewelry items were also apprehended.

Young was arrested at an address in Greer on Sept. 9. Moore was arrested the following day, Sept. 10. At this time, the Sheriff’s Office says they do not yet know how Young and Moore knew one another. Both Young and Moore remain in Spartanburg County Detention Facility with no bond.

Young and Moore are facing a similar list of charges. Both have been charged with trafficking methamphetamine over 400 grams, trafficking fentanyl over 28 grams, trafficking cocaine 10-28 grams, exposing a child to methamphetamine, and three counts of possession of a weapon during a violent crime. Young has additionally been charged with possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.

The Sheriff’s Office says that this is an active investigation and that further investigation will determine if there are more sites or individuals involved.
