The South Carolina Football Hall of Fame (SCFHOF) announced Thursday the 2026 Bridge Builder Excellence Award (BBEA) nominees, recognizing outstanding high school football student-athletes from across the state who exemplify excellence in the classroom, on the field, and in their communities.
The BBEA honors a current South Carolina high school football player who demonstrates exceptional football performance, academic achievement, and leadership through character and service. Two Greer-area players were nominated: Tre' Segarra of Byrnes and Nathan Huff of Greer.
The top three nominees will be recognized at the 13th Annual Enshrinement Ceremony on April 16, 2026, at Hotel Hartness in Greenville, South Carolina.
Award Criteria:
Nominees are evaluated using the following weighted criteria:
· Football Excellence – 40%
· Academics (minimum 3.2 core GPA) – 30%
· Character, School & Community Citizenship, and Leadership – 30%
Each nominee will receive a certificate of recognition and be invited to attend the #BBEA26Day Celebration on May 8, 2026, at the South Carolina Public Charter School District headquarters in Columbia, South Carolina.
In addition, the top 10 semi-finalists will be invited to share their secrets to excellence and success on the SCFHOF Sports & Leadership Podcast with Chairman and Executive Director David Sanford Wyatt.
This year, the SCFHOF received 71 nominations from 50 high schools across South Carolina, highlighting the remarkable young leaders who are making a meaningful impact in their schools and communities while excelling through the game of football.
