Spartanburg Community College has announced that Dr. William Brothers is to be appointed the College’s new Chief Academic Officer, bringing more than 15 years of higher education leadership to the role.

Brothers joins SCC from Greenville Technical College, where he most recently served as Dean for the School of Engineering Technology and Professional Studies. During his tenure, he was recognized with the President’s Award for Excellence, honoring his outstanding leadership and dedication to student success.

Prior to his service in South Carolina, Brothers held a series of progressive leadership positions within the North Carolina Community College System. These positions ranged from faculty member, to dean and ultimately Vice President for Financial and Administrative Services/Chief Financial Officer.

Brothers holds a Doctorate in Business Administration, an Educational Specialist degree and master’s degrees in Business Administration, Entrepreneurship, and Human Resource Development, along with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting. He is also a holder of the Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification and a graduate and former facilitator of the North Carolina Community College Leadership Program.

Beyond his professional achievements, Brothers is deeply family-oriented and lives at home with his wife, Chelsea, and their five children.
