Harry Lee Tate, Sr., 101, husband of the late Polly Howard Jones Tate, passed away September 21, 2026.
A native of Cherokee County, South Carolina, son of the late William Boyd and Beulah Harris Tate, he was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps., and former owner and operator of T.E. Jones and Sons Furniture Company in Greer, South Carolina. Mr. Tate was a member and past President of both the Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce and Greer Lion’s Club, and a faithful member of Greer First Baptist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Bonne Tate Johnson (Randy) of Taylors, South Carolina; three grandchildren, Laura Johnson Sirois (Roger) of Greer, South Carolina, Lisa T. Curwen (Colt) of Moncks Corner, South Carolina, and Cayce M. Tate of Charlotte, North Carolina; and four great-grandchildren, Derrick Sirois, Dalaney Sirois, Ryland Curwen, and Tatum Curwen.
He was predeceased by two daughters, Paula Tate Brown and Andrea Tate Smith, two sons, Harry Lee Tate, Jr. and William “Bill” Howard Tate, five brothers, and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Oct. 3 at Greer First Baptist Church, conducted by Dr. Doug Mize. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery with military honors.
Visitation will be held from noon to 1:45 p.m. Oct. 3 at the church.
The family is at their respective homes.
