Lou Ellen Howell Barnett, 97, wife of the late James C. Barnett, passed away May 29, 2026.
A native of Greer, daughter of the late William Archie Howell, Sr. and Inez Jones Howell; she was a graduate of Jordan High School; attended Gardner Webb College; was an administrative assistant for Crestview Elementary School; and was a member of Washington Baptist Church.
Surviving are a son, Michael H. Barnett (Barbara) of Greer, South Carolina; a grandson, David Barnett (Jill) of Greenville, South Carolina; and a step-grandson, Ben (Janna) of Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
She was predeceased by two brothers, E.C. Howell and William Archie Howell, Jr., and a sister, Martha Griffin.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. June 2 at Wood Memorial Park conducted by Rev. Trent Henson.
A visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. June 1 at The Wood Mortuary.
