Summer collegiate baseball returns to Spartanburg County this weekend with the Spartanburg County Peaches set to play their inaugural home opener.

The Peaches will host the Carolina Disco Turkeys at 7 p.m. Saturday at Jim Everhart Field at Inman Mills Park. The game marks the first home date in team history and the beginning of a 20-game home schedule in the Blue Ridge League.

Spartanburg County will also host the Uwharrie Wampus Cats at 5 p.m. Sunday to complete its opening weekend at home. General admission tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. 

The Peaches were announced earlier this year as a new Blue Ridge League club, giving Spartanburg County a summer collegiate team built around one of the Upstate’s most recognizable symbols. It's the first summer collegiate team in the area since the Coastal Plain League Spartanburgers played at Duncan Park for the 2021 season. The new team will play its home games in Inman.

Saturday’s opener will give fans their first look at a Peaches roster made up of college players from across the region and beyond. The roster includes players from Lander, Erskine, USC Union, USC Sumter, Augusta, College of Charleston, Spartanburg Methodist, King, Barton, Brevard and others.

The Peaches’ home schedule runs through July 24 and includes visits from the Greenwood Flying Monkeys, Joanna Hornets, Davie Crocketts, Queen City Corndogs and other regional opponents. Spartanburg County will also host a three-game Fourth of July weekend homestand, facing Klutch on July 3 and July 4 before hosting Joanna on July 5.

The team is made up of approximately 30 players and will be coached by Henry Lech.

Games will include concessions, family fun and the availability of team merchandise.
