Mona Lisa Johnson, age 59, entered into eternal rest peacefully on July 6, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. A woman of remarkable kindness, strength and compassion, Mona lived a life centered on faith, family and love. She touched countless lives through her generous spirit, warm smile, and unwavering devotion to those she held dear. Her memory will forever be a source of comfort and inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Born on July 23, 1966, in Greer, South Carolina, Mona found greatest joy in her family. She devoted her life to those she loved and will be remembered for her kind heart, unwavering love and the many cherished memories she created with her children, grandchildren and extended family.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Amber Johnson, Autumn Poteat (Tim), Cheyenne Johnson, Donna Johnson (Brandon), Lawson Johnson, Agustina Garcia, Dylan Casey, Lathon Casey, Tyler Durham, Kayla Boyd, Domonick Kolukciva, and Greg Alvarez.
She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Colton Johnson, Adriana, Nevaeh, Ansley, Isiah, Liam, Josie, Landon Alveraz, Natalya Tovar, Ariella, Kalayna Garcia, Konway, and Roberta Kiser, as well as one great grandchild on the way.
Also left to cherish her memory are her sister, Jennifer Barnett-Cummings of Spartanburg, South Carolina; her father, Steve Barnett of Greer, South Carolina; mother-in-law, Joan Garham of Mt. Airy, North Carolina; brother-in-law, Johnny Dale Johnson (Kat) of Mt. Airy, North Carolina; sister-in-law, Pamella Lewis (Joel) of Kannapolis North Carolina; and many extended family members and friends who loved her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jeffrey Lee “Bubba” Johnson; her mother, Donna Watson Barnett; her granddaughter, Addison “Sunny” Alvarez; her grandsons, Winston and Watson Johnson; and her brother-in-law, William “Bill” Cummings.
Mona’s love, strength, and devotion to her family will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Though deeply missed, her legacy of loved and compassion will live on through the generations she leaves behind.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
