Randall “Randy” Winchester, of Greenville, South Carolina, passed away on March 24.

Randy was a charismatic man whose presence could light up any room. He was deeply committed to caring for those he loved, always showing up with unwavering support, generosity and loyalty. To Randy, friendship and family were one and the same—he loved his friends as though they were family and built lifelong bonds that meant everything to him.

A man of many accomplishments, Randy served as a CEO, where his leadership, vision, and determination left a lasting impact on those he worked with. Randy was also a commercial-rated pilot, finding both freedom and purpose in the skies. One could always find him on the golf course or in the air. In his personal life, he was a club champion golfer, a reflection of his discipline, passion and competitive spirit.

One of Randy’s most cherished callings was his involvement with Angel Flight America, where he volunteered his time and skills as a pilot to help transport children and their families to medical care—free of charge. He especially loved taking the time to show children his airplane, helping ease their fears and making them feel safe and cared for on what was often a journey into the unknown.

Those who knew Randy will remember not only his achievements, but the way he made people feel—valued, cared for and included. His warmth, strength, and larger-than-life personality will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Linda M. Winchester; his oldest daughter, Lauren W. Rarick, and her husband, David A. Rarick; and his brother in life and skyward mentor, Joel Barbour.

He was preceded in death by his precious daughter, Lindsey Catherine Winchester; his mother, Flora B. Winchester; his father, Floyd Winchester Jr.; and his brother, Robert A. Winchester.

A small memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. April 11 at Fletcher Funeral Service, 1218 North Main Street, Fountain Inn, SC  29644.

Randy’s legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched, the friendships he cherished and the love he gave so freely.

Fly high, “Sky King.”
