The $97 million project is aimed at improving overall customer experience and preparing for continued growth in 2026. GSP drives an annual regional economic impact exceeding $4 billion, and the airport's growth makes Greenville an even more attractive investment opportunity. The Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport will close its only runway for two weekends in 2026 to repave it. The project will repave 6,500 feet of Runway 422 and its shoulders, as well as repave the runway safety areas and repaint all runway markings. The repaving process will occur in three phases from late July to mid-November 2026. The project is necessary to ensure the runway functions effectively and to meet the demands of the rapidly growing Upstate area.
