Greer CPW will host two community blood drives this week in support of The Blood Connection and the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Charleston. The first is on Thursday, June 4, in Greer, and the second is on Saturday, June 6, in Landrum.

The state law requiring excavators to call or click 811 at least 3 full working days before digging is changing in May 2026, and the event will provide information on the new law, including the increased fines for damages caused by not calling 811. Attendees will also learn about utility color codes and have the opportunity to talk with utility locating professionals.
The South Carolina Underground Facility Damage Prevention Act is set to undergo more than 70 changes in May 2026, with the most significant being the increase in fines from the Attorney General's office. To educate the public about the importance of calling 811 before digging, Greer CPW, South Carolina 811, and Wild Ace Pizza are hosting a free event on April 1, where attendees can learn about utility color codes, state law, and talk with utility locating professionals. The event will also offer free ice cream, pizza, and giveaways for children.
