Greer senior linebacker Sammy White officially signed on Wednesday afternoon to continue his football career at Anderson University.
White, who earned all-region and all-area honors after a stellar senior season, was surrounded by family, friends, and coaches in the Greer High library as he made it official.
"I'm excited for Sammy. I think he's going to do really well," said Greer head coach Will Young. "He's a hard working kid. Anderson is going to love his work ethic on the field and in the weight room. I don't know if I've ever seen Sammy take a day off."
"Coming into this senior season, I definitely wanted to leave a mark," said White. "I wanted to leave everything on the field to set myself up to play at the next level. College football was definitely something I had on my mind."
White did just that, putting together a senior season for the Jackets to remember. He racked up 66 tackles, 14 tackles for loss and nine sacks, comfortably leading his team in all three categories.
Now, White heads just an hour down the road to be a part of Anderson's up-and-coming football program. He says he can't wait to hit the ground running.
"As soon as I stepped on campus at Anderson, all I felt was love," said White. "It's a new program with great facilities and a great coaching staff. I know I'll fit in best there."
