Final scores and brief notes from Greer-area football games on August 29:
Dorman 35, Byrnes 21
A self-destructive second half doomed the Rebels in this one, who led 21-14 at halftime but were outscored 21-0 in the second half.
Byrnes coughed up four turnovers compared to zero for Dorman. The Cavaliers were led by a three-headed rushing attack of Nick Means, Carter Nash, and Ja'bez Thomas, rushing for 178 combined yards against the Rebels in the win.
Byrnes falls to 1-1 on the year.
Blue Ridge 28, Travelers Rest 6
The "Battle of the Jug" goes to the Tigers for the third-straight year after a dominant performance from the Blue Ridge defense. Blue Ridge improves to 1-1 on the season with the win.
Boiling Springs 34, Riverside 13
The Warriors were unable to get much clicking on either side of the ball against a tough Bulldogs team, falling to 0-2 on the season. They'll prepare for a matchup at Easley next Friday.
Wren 49, Eastside 12
Another tough week for the Eagles, who fall to 0-2 on the season. Eastside will hit the bye week and look to rebound on Sept. 11 with a matchup against rival Riverside.
