The City of Greer Police Department will be holding the 14th Annual Upstate S.C. Law Enforcement Memorial Softball Tournament to raise support for the families of fallen officers in the Upstate.
The Greer Police Department is partnering with the Gallagher’s Heroes Fallen Officer Fund to host this event. The tournament will take place from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 23, at Century Park (3605 Brushy Creek Rd).
The Upstate SC Law Enforcement Memorial Softball Tournament brings together softball teams from public safety agencies across the Upstate every year. This year’s tournament will feature ten participating teams representing agencies from throughout the region.
“The tournament serves as a meaningful gathering for the Upstate public safety community, combining a weekend of friendly competition with the shared mission of honoring fallen officers and providing support to their families,” said Lt. Chris Forrester.
Over the past 14 years, the Greer Police Department has donated $38,000 to eight fallen officers’ families in the Upstate. Gallagher’s Heroes Fallen Officer Fund allowed this number to nearly double, for a total of $63,500 donated to date.
This year’s opening ceremony will consist of honoring the memory of fallen officers across the Upstate and the eight officers lost since the tournament was created. The event is free and open to the public, though monetary donations are accepted. There will be t-shirt sales, raffles and concessions available for purchase.
