Prisma Health has been awarded the Employer Support of the National Guard and Reserve (ESGR) Pro Patria Award, one of the highest state-level honors recognizing employers for outstanding support for Guard and Reserve service members and their families. The health system, which employs more than 700 veterans and Guard and Reserve members, was recognized for its commitment to military employees.

The award was presented by Maj. Gen. Jeff Jones, deputy adjutant general for the South Carolina National Guard, during a ceremony at Prisma Health’s corporate headquarters.

The Pro Patria Award recognizes employers that demonstrate exceptional leadership and adopt policies supporting employees serving in the National Guard and Reserve, helping them balance military service with civilian careers.

“Service is at the heart of who we are at Prisma Health. Our National Guard and Reserve team members across all branches bring exceptional leadership, resilience and dedication to our workforce every day,” Mark O’Halla, president and chief executive officer of Prisma Health said. “We are grateful for their contributions and proud to foster a workplace that supports those who serve our state and nation.”

Prisma Health’s commitment extends beyond employment practices to include veteran outreach initiatives, military and veteran partnerships, employee engagement programs and efforts to connect service members and their families with healthcare resources and career opportunities.

“Prisma Health has demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to the men and women of our National Guard and Reserve,” Jennifer Harding, South Carolina ESGR chair said. “Through its policies, leadership and culture, Prisma Health ensures service members can meet their military obligations while advancing their civilian careers. The organization goes beyond compliance, supporting military families, protecting career growth and recognizing the value Guard and Reserve members bring to the workforce. Prisma Health is a truly deserving recipient of the ESGR Pro Patria Award.”
