Dianne Mitchell

Republican Dianne Mitchell is currently leading in the polls for the State House District 21 special primary runoff election.

The election results came late Tuesday evening. Over 7,000 people came out to vote in the runoff. At the time of reporting, Mitchell holds 50.36% of the vote over her opponent, Steve Nail.

This special primary follows the resignation of House Representative Bobby Cox. It ran simultaneously with the special primary for Senate District 12, a seat that became vacant following the resignation of Senator Roger Nutt. In that election, Lee Bright was declared the winning candidate.

Provided results are certified as is, Mitchell will run uncontested on the Dec. 23 special election ballot for South Carolina House District 21. For more information on statewide elections, visit SCVotes.gov.
