The candidate filing period for the Inman City Council special election is currently open and will close on Monday, Feb. 2, at noon.

Interested candidates are required to pay the filing fee at Inman City Hall and file a Statement of Intention of Candidacy at the office of the Board of Voter Registration and Elections of Spartanburg County. The filing fee is $50, and the form may be obtained in person at the Elections Office or from the candidate section at www.scvotes.gov.

County officials warn that potential winter weather over the weekend may impact the ability of the city or county offices to open on Monday. Due to this, candidates are strongly encouraged to complete their filing prior to 5 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 30, if possible.

Any person wishing to file as a candidate must be a Spartanburg County registered voter and resident of the municipality for at least 30 days prior to the election. For additional information on candidate filing, visit the Spartanburg County Board of Voter Registration and Elections’ website.
