Jack Stott, a Greenville Republican, has officially filed to run for South Carolina State House District 21.
According to Stott's campaign website, Stott is the former chairman of the Upstate Young Republicans, a position he stepped down from to pursue the State House race. Stott is currently serving as the treasurer of South Carolina Young Republicans.
"I’m doing this not for recognition, but because I believe in the future of South Carolina and in the voices of the people who call it home," Stott said in a Facebook announcement. "Filing my candidacy is both humbling and inspiring. It represents responsibility, hope and the chance to serve my neighbors in the greatest way I know how."
Party primaries for the State House race will be Oct. 21, with the special election occurring on Dec. 23. See GreerNews’ coverage for more information regarding the race.
