Progress is continuing on Greer’s South Tyger River Trail project.
The South Tyger River Trail is Greer’s first major trail project, expected to be two miles long once complete. The City is currently working on Phase 1A of the project, a 0.7-mile stretch that includes a boardwalk.Â
Phase 1A construction has included clearing the trail, grading the site and concrete work. Crews have built the boardwalk, as well as concrete stairs with railings that provide access to the boardwalk section from the fields. Electrical infrastructure has also been installed for future trail lighting and bench areas.
According to city officials, the first phase of the trail could be open to the public by late fall, depending on weather and other outside factors. Work on Phase 1A is still ongoing, and future phases of the project will be subject to City Council approval before construction can begin.
Once complete, the South Tyger River Trail will be an ADA-compliant trail with multiple scenic overlooks and pollinator gardens. It will begin at Country Club Park and connect to Greer Golf and Greer High School.Â
