Ms. Louise Scott, 80, passed away in Spartanburg Regional Hospital, in Spartanburg, South Carolina, in the early morning on Oct 25, 2026, after a brief illness. Born Oct 23, 1946, she was the tenth of eleven children of the late Elliott and Beulah Scott of Welford, SC. The children, from oldest to youngest, were Ruby Scott (deceased), Gladys Scott (Jesse Williams; both deceased), Eloise Scott Foster (James Foster; both deceased), James Scott (Margie Ballenger Scott; both deceased), Carrie Scott Anderson (Roscoe Anderson; both deceased), Beulean Scott Staggs (Boyce Staggs; both deceased), Elizabeth Scott Young, J.C. Scott (deceased, Cora Staggs Scott), Irene Scott Sexton (Paul Sexton; deceased), Louise Scott (now deceased), Linda Scott Staggs (Charles Staggs; deceased). The siblings have another brother Willie Scott (Annie Lee Scott; deceased) also of Welford, SC.
Louise began attending Shiloh Baptist Church (Welford, SC) with her family as a child. Her Christian spiritual formation began at an early age. She was baptized at Shiloh Baptist Church and served in leadership as the president of the usher board and gospel choir. Louise most recently began attending True Worship Center in Duncan, SC where she participated in Bible study and other church activities.
Louise attended school in Welford, South Carolina and was a student at Florence Chapel School. She was in the graduating class of 1965. She was an industrial worker at Marshalls Chicken Farm (Greer) Beut Knitt (Spartanburg) and Jackson Mills (Welford) until retirement. In her spare time, Louise enjoyed spending time cooking, singing, working word puzzles, shopping at Belk, spending time with children and gathering with her siblings.
Louise was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, auntie, and cousin. She was naturally motherly and sisterly. She easily befriended others. She treated everyone with kindness, took care of others, treated them like family, and extended this love as a foster parent. She was a modest person, who did not like the spotlight nor recognition for her kind and caring acts. She saw it as her Christian duty. Louise had a joyous 80th birthday celebration on Oct 23 and was celebrated by family with fellowship, laughter, heartwarming gifts, and expressions of adoration. Her beloved son Dewayne organized the special occasion. She was blessed to be able to receive her flowers and honor while still on earth. Unexpectedly, Louise was celebrated by loved ones on Friday and elevated by angels on Sunday. God called his good and faithful servant home to receive her eternal reward.
Louise is survived by her beloved son Dewayne Scott, one special son Robert Rice, three grandchildren Br'esha Abeulah Scott, Timiya Smith (daughters of Moronicka Scott Smith), and Zatavious Scott (son of Dewayne Scott), three sisters (Elizabeth Young, Irene Sexton, Linda Staggs), one sister-in-law (Cora Scott), one brother (Willie Scott), and multiple godchildren (Travis Staggs, Aubrey Scott, Tennico Porter and Fredrick Foster). She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and others in the community she was motherly towards. Louise was preceded in death by her beloved daughter Minister Moronicka “Shell” Scott Smith, and her parents and siblings listed above.
Louise Scott leaves a legacy of caring for others, encouraging others and modeling how to show forgiveness, compassion, patience, kindness, and friendliness beyond our faults. Her memory and impact will continue to flourish through all the lives she has touched.
