Marcus E. Roddy passed away peacefully on September 21, 2026. Marcus was the son of the late Dean and Jeanette King Roddy.
Marcus was born in Campobello and a graduate of Chapman High School. He was a proud fourth-generation peach farmer at Roddy Farms in Campobello and a lifelong member of Holston Creek Baptist Church. He pursued a career in funeral service at Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service earning his Associates Degree in Funeral Science. Marcus became a dual licensed funeral director and embalmer and owned and operated The Roddy Mortuary in Duncan, SC. Marcus loved to serve others and his compassion was reflected by the work he put into his Mortuary.
Marcus also had a passion for bluegrass music and was a self-taught musician, playing any string instrument he could find. His favorite pastime was simply “pickin’ and grinnin”. He never met a stranger; he could, and would, talk to anyone anywhere. He had a remarkable way of making people feel like old friends, and it seemed that he knew someone everywhere he went. Marcus enjoyed many hobbies and interests besides music. He had a love for antiques, firearms, cars, Indian motorcycles, airplanes, and airshows, and he was a pilot who loved flying. He was a beloved man who will be dearly missed.
Marcus is survived by his daughter, Paula Davis (Robert) and their child, Vincent Davis; daughter, Jennifer Drake (Joseph) and their children, Sara Prunier (Alex), Zachary Drake, and Olivia Drake; son, Tommy Brunson (April) and their child, Ryleigh Brunson; sister, Martha Roddy; as well as his former wife, Lori Roddy, who remained a devoted friend and caretaker to him.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Magnolia Manor in Inman and Upstate Community Hospice House (Agape Hospice in Landrum) for their outstanding care and compassion given during this time.
