Stephen Ernest “Steve” Frady, 84, of Lyman, South Carolina, passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home.

Born and raised in Lyman, Steve was the son of the late William Ernest Frady and Willie Mae Dempsey Frady. He graduated from James F. Byrnes High School and attended Clemson University.

A devoted Clemson Tigers fan, Steve especially enjoyed watching games with family. He cheered passionately for his Tigers through every victory and defeat.

Steve owned and operated Frady Auto Sales in Lyman for approximately 30 years. A talented mechanic who could fix just about anything, Steve had a need for speed. Whether it was cars, boats, or airplanes, if it went fast, Steve loved it.

Steve was also a commercial pilot who flew for Roger Milliken. His love of adventure extended to Lake Lyman, where he enjoyed waterskiing with friends. An accomplished skier, Steve could ski right off the dock and all the way up onto shore without ever getting wet.

Steve had a wonderful sense of humor. He enjoyed telling jokes, making people laugh, and entertaining friends and family with his remarkable ability to imitate sounds.

Steve is survived by numerous cousins and extended family members. Local cousins include Cassandra Winkles (David), Pink Frady (Joye), Dale Allred (Sherri), Deborah Carlisle Mann, Teresa Carlisle Shuler (Mark), Marty Howell, Nancy Rock, and Wayne Lewis.

Steve will be remembered for his quick wit, mechanical talents, love of adventure, and the many memories he shared with family and friends.

The family wishes to express its sincere appreciation to the staff of Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home for their compassionate care during Steve’s final days.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Oct. 17 at Hillcrest Memory Gardens in Greer, South Carolina. Arrangements are being handled by Living Waters Funeral Home and Crematory in Lyman, South Carolina.
