The Town of Lyman is soliciting nominations for its Hometown Heroes Banner program, an effort to honor veterans and active-duty service members during the United States’ 250th birthday year. Nominees must have a connection to Lyman. Applications will be accepted through May 15, 2026.

The Town of Lyman held its first State of the Town Address, where Mayor David Petty spoke about the town's future. He also gave updates on town initiatives, including Hurricane Helene cleanup and Meadow Street repairs. Petty hopes to eventually develop the Mill Village into a walkable, mixed-use area for residents. The event also honored several town employees, including the naming of the Town Employee of the Year and Town Police Officer of the Year.

The Town of Lyman will host its first State of the Town address on March 3rd at the Lyman Event Center at Pacific Place. The event will provide residents with a comprehensive look at the town's achievements, current initiatives, ongoing challenges, and vision for the future. Former state Rep. Rita Allison will help host the event, and residents will have the opportunity to meet with council members, share their concerns and issues for review by town staff, and fellowship with other residents of the community. The event is free and open to all Lyman residents and community members.
