Henson 400th win pic

On Tuesday night, during a doubleheader against Carolina, Blue Ridge baseball head coach Travis Henson was honored for winning 400 career games as a varsity baseball head coach.

Henson was celebrated surrounded by family and players, and presented with a commemorative jersey with the number 400 and his last name printed on it.

"Ultimately, 400 wins just means I’ve coached a lot of great players," said Henson. "Players win games. Players make plays, make pitches, and drive in runs. Over the last 21 years, I’ve been honored to coach a lot of incredible high school players who worked together to compete at a high level as a team."

Henson, who also previously coached at Landrum, says Blue Ridge and the community means everything to him. He's spent the bulk of his coaching journey in Tiger red and black, compiling 247 of his 401 wins with the Tigers.

Henson was also a student at Blue Ridge, graduating in 1992.

"My dad was coaching Blue Ridge in the state championship series in 1974, the year I was born," said Henson. "So, to be coaching with him by my side now, on a field named after him at Blue Ridge, for a 400th career high school win as a coach is truly special.

"Blue Ridge will always be a special place to me and my family."
