Eastside LB/RB Lucas Tankersley had a monster senior season on both sides of the ball. The senior capped an incredible year on Wednesday by officially signing to play college football at Charleston Southern University.
Tankersley was surrounded by family and friends in Eastside’s auditorium as he made it official.
“This feels really good. It’s showing that the hard work I put in is finally paying off,” said Tankersley. “And it just means a lot having everybody I love out here to support.”
Tankersley said Charleston Southern was one of the first schools to contact him, and that the Buccaneers were consistent throughout his entire recruiting process.
“What stood out to me about [Charleston Southern] was the fact that they recruited me early, but they also showed me the same amount of love throughout my entire recruiting journey,” said Tankersley. “They’ve got a great coaching staff… I feel like they’ll be able to take me from the level I am at now to even higher.”
The level he’s at now? Pretty high.
Tankersley finished the 2025 season with 921 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns on 7.7 yards per carry. At the linebacker position, he led the Eagles in tackles with 91 on the year.
He’ll likely be used in multiple ways once he gets to Charleston, but Tankersley can’t wait to get up there and show what he can do.
“Charleston Southern is getting a dog,” said Tankersley. “They’re getting someone who can play both sides of the ball, someone who can do anything you need."
“I can’t wait to get up there and play ball.”
