Tonight, Byrnes football ushers in a new era by opening the brand-new Nixon Field.
The Rebels take on T.L. Hanna at 7:30 this evening in Byrnes’ first game of the 2025 season. A ribbon-cutting will take place at 5:30 p.m. at Nixon Field’s plaza area to officially open the stadium.
After last season was spent playing an entire schedule on the road, there’s no place like home for the pride of Duncan.
“We’re so excited to be able to play a home game right here at Byrnes High School, the first one in almost two years,” said Randall Gary, Spartanburg District 5 Superintendent. “We couldn’t be more ecstatic.”
Gary says he is expecting a near sellout. For those planning to attend tonight’s inaugural game at the new Nixon Field, here are some important things to note.
What time does the field open?
The ribbon will be cut at the new field at 5:30 p.m., but the gates don’t open until 6:30 — one hour before kickoff.
How do I get tickets?
Tickets can be purchased online at HubCityLocker.com for $9 or purchased at the ticket gates by the field for $8. Card and cash are both accepted at the stadium. Lines for ticket gates are expected to grow quickly once the gates open at 6:30.
Where do I park?
The main lot directly adjacent to the stadium is expected to fill up rapidly, so multiple alternate parking areas are available next to Byrnes Freshman Academy, Beech Springs Middle School, and other locations near the high school. Signs will be posted to direct attendees to the proper parking areas before the game.
Other important things to note:
- The new Nixon Field is not a crossover field, meaning attendees can not cross over from one side of the bleachers to the other during the game.
- In the case of the home side of the stadium selling out, remaining attendees who are unable to find a seat will be asked to sit on the away side. So, arrive early.
- Concessions will be available throughout the game at the new concession booth.
- The Rebel Touchdown Club will be operating merch sales from a booth inside the stadium, as well.
