Mccoy Greer

Calvin McCoy (No.5) rushed for five touchdowns in Greer's 56-0 win over Berea on Sept. 19.

Scores and brief recaps from Greer-area football games from Friday, Sept. 19.

Byrnes 45, Wade Hampton 3

The Rebels cruised to a victory over outmatched Wade Hampton at Nixon Field on Friday night.

Byrnes led 38-0 at halftime thanks to two touchdowns from Tre' Segarra, a rushing touchdown from Jacobi Fuller, and two touchdown passes from Caine Rogers.

The Rebels were able to play a myriad of different players and get reps in for younger guys in the second half. Jean Ndabian rushed for a one-yard score in the third quarter to cap off the Rebels' scoring.

Byrnes improves to 3-1 on the year and 1-0 in region play with a huge home matchup against Dorman on deck for next Friday.

Greer 56, Berea 0

The Calvin McCoy Show.

McCoy, the junior RB, rushed for 223 yards and five touchdowns on 16 carries for the Jackets who picked up their first win of the season.

Greer turns its attention to a trip to Travelers Rest next Friday, as the Jackets look to improve to 2-0 in region play.

Spartanburg 48, Eastside 34

Eastside put up a tremendous fight against a Spartanburg team that ran the Eagles off the field last year, but after taking a 21-17 lead to the locker room, a 21-0 Spartanburg third quarter doomed Eastside.

Lucas Tankersley was magnificent at RB for the Eagles, rushing for nearly 200 yards and three touchdowns, but a stellar performance from Spartanburg running back Trenton Lynch (five touchdowns) was the difference.

Eastside will look to bounce back with a win against Boiling Springs next Friday.

Full game story coming soon.

Dorman 31, Riverside 3

The Warriors dropped their third-straight game with a loss at Dorman on Friday night.

The Riverside offense struggled to get anything going again, being held to 3 or fewer points for the second time in four games this season.

Riverside (1-3, 0-1 region) hopes to rebound with a win at Wade Hampton next Friday.

Blue Ridge 50, Pickens 42

QB Gavin Forrester and RB/WR Jakorey Dodd lit up the stat sheets once again for the Tigers, and Blue Ridge dug deep for a come-from-behind win at Pickens.

Blue Ridge avenges last year's 35-26 loss to the Blue Flame at home, and with a non-region home game vs. Landrum on deck for next Friday night, will wait until Oct. 3 to get back into region play at Seneca.
